Amanda Earl

Amanda Earl began going to the Tree Reading Series in 2001 when she featured, along with her fellow University of Ottawa creative writing workshop participants, for the launch of their chapbook. Kiki is Amanda’s first poetry book and came out with Chaudiere Books in 2014. Amanda is the managing editor of Bywords.ca and the fallen angel of AngelHousePress. Amanda was a Tree Reading Series Hot Ottawa Voice in 2008 along with Pearl Pirie and Roland Prevost, and has featured at Tree in 2013 and 2015, and given a workshop in 2016.

Electric Garden takes language & imagery from the work of Gwendolyn MacEwen, Sylvia Plath & Anne Sexton. The poems address the physical & mental effects of entering menopause: hot flashes, cold flashes, temper tantrums, menstruation, increased sex drive, sleep troubles, creativity.
